SMALL GRANTS STORIES : TES BEN GUERDANE

COVID-19 Response / Articles / 01-12-2021

"In 2017, I created a company specialized in photovoltaic panel installation with my brother, my brother-in-law, and a friend. Our motivation for starting this company was to help create an economic climate in the region where our children can work and prosper. While the sector is promising, starting up a business in this area is challenging due to a lack of information, resources, and awareness of its impact.

Despite challenges during the health crisis, we did not give up. We continued to serve our clients, even receiving a special authorization to continue working to meet their demand. During this time, we came across an announcement for the US government's COVID-19 Recovery Grant Fund, under USAID Tunisia JOBS. We applied and received a grant award, which helped us cover fixed costs and purchase equipment that we previously had to rent. Our goal is for our company to survive the crisis and develop a sustainable model. Thanks to this grant, we believe we are beyond the critical phase."
