SMALL GRANTS STORIES : Fourni Prod

COVID-19 Response / Articles / 22-02-2022

"After working as a production manager at a school supply manufacturer and learning about the industry, I resolved to challenge the market and open my own business.

Despite the fact that 70% of my customers are in the north of Tunisia, I decided to set up my factory in my southern hometown of Djerba, where operating costs are much lower and the workforce is more stable.

Our business suffered a severe financial setback due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During the crisis, many schools closed for a long period of time, causing a steep drop in demand and pushing us to temporarily close the factory.

A grant from the COVID-19 Recovery Grant Fund launched by the US government through the USAID Tunisia JOBS program helped us purchase raw material we needed to restart production, enabling us to keep our entire team employed and even recruit new staff."
