"When I look back at my career, I am amazed that I have climbed all the way up the ladder.

I started off as just a welder, before eventually training to become a technician. Today, I am a company manager. My experience has shown me that to succeed in this sector, you have to invest a lot, which dissuades many from joining the field. If I have any advice to youth, it would be to start small.

In 2013, I started my own business and began working as a subcontractor for other construction material manufacturers. Little by little, my workshop and team began to grow. Over the years, we have always adapted and evolved, but we were forced to make big adjustments during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to falling demand during the crisis, we had to downsize and rethink our expansion strategy. I knew that the price of raw materials would likely rise, so I applied for the COVID-19 Enterprise Recovery Fund established by the US government through the USAID Tunisia JOBS program. The grant helped me build up my inventory of raw materials and continue selling my products at competitive prices."
