SMALL GRANTS STORIES : Fair trade bois d'olivier

COVID-19 Response / Articles / 23-11-2022

In 2019, we created Fair Trade Olive Wood (FTBO), a business that produces and exports olive wood items, such as kitchen ustensils and decoration items. Each product in our collection is different, telling the unique story of the craftsperson who shaped it. We know how difficult conditions are for our suppliers, many of whom are women, so we are committed to paying them fairly. Without these suppliers, we could not meet the requirements of our customers from all over the world. During the COVID-19 crisis, we received a grant from the COVID-19 Enterprise Recovery Fund  established by the U.S. government as part of its USAID Tunisia JOBS program. This assistance helped us offset a drop in orders during the crisis. Today, our sales are slowly starting to recover, and we are happy to bring in enough revenue to sustain the business and our partners.
