SMALL GRANTS STORIES: Europe Confection

COVID-19 Response / Articles / 22-02-2022

In 1993, the textile company I worked at was going out of business when I took it over. To turn things around, I capitalized on our client base and human resources, and was able to increase production to 7,000 pieces per week for our foreign clients.

After my son finished his studies in 2007, he joined me at the business, helping to further develop our activity by optimizing our methods and output. However, the success of our business also depends on our labor force and the quality of their training. During the COVID-19 crisis, we lost 75% of our staff, making it difficult for us to sustain our activity.

We applied to the COVID-19 Enterprise Recovery Grant Fund established by the U.S. government under the USAID Tunisia JOBS program with the objective of investing in training and prospecting for new clients. As a result of JOBS’ support, we will improve our productivity and create more jobs.
