YOUTH STORIES: Sarah Latigui (CFSH Monastir)

Being 25 years old and holding a vocational technician's diploma in fashion design from the Monastir Textile Training Center (CSFH Monsatir), I've got my sights set high!

I made a professional switch after originally studying economics and management and starting my career in accounting. My passion for fashion pushed me to leave my comfort zone and train in the industry I really love.

The quality and versatility of the courses I took at the training center gave me insight into the different possibilities open to me after graduation. While many of my colleagues hope to be recruited by companies after finishing their internships, I'm determined to create my own sportswear brand.

I believe that this is a rapidly expanding market in Tunisia and worldwide, and I want to take advantage of the fact that I'm from Sousse, and in the Sahel region, the textile sector has the infrastructure and know-how to create a brand that can compete with foreign brands in terms of quality.

Once this brand is launched, I'll devote myself to its commercial development.

My greatest wish is that the online modules* to which we have had access this year will be extended to all the other subjects in all the training centers. This would enable me and the other learners to continue training while making progress on our professional projects.

* The online textile training modules are part of a pilot project between the US government through its USAID Tunisia JOBS program with the national center for training of trainers and training engineering (CENAFFIF). Through the project, JOBS helped CENAFFIF develop 14 online course modules in four high-demand sectors – agriculture, textile, electromechanics, and tourism.
