The Tunisia's textile industry is a vital contributor to the country's economy through exports, primarily directed to European Union (EU) member countries like France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, and Portugal. The sector is known for producing a wide range of textile products, from clothing and fabrics to technical textiles, with a well-established manufacturing base for textiles and garments. This industry plays a significant role in employment and counts as one of the country's largest employers.

During the recent years, the textile industry in Tunisia faced various challenges, including the need to remain competitive amid global competition, labor costs, and fluctuations in currency exchange rates. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the industry by disrupting global supply chains and leading to a decrease in demand for clothing.

Since its inception, JOBS has established partnerships with numerous companies nationwide. This collaborative effort aims to enhance the competitiveness of the textile sector and address obstacles that impede its progress. JOBS delivers tailored support to its partner companies, enabling them to streamline production processes, enhance the technical skills of their workforce through customized training programs, and expand their export sales. Moreover, when the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, JOBS granted textile companies, that produced disposable medical equipment such as single-use garments, gloves, and masks. JOBS’ grant support involved the procurement of essential raw materials, thus increasing their production capacities to meet the important demand during that period.

JOBS’ technical and financial assistance helped these companies increase their sales by approximately $58 million and create over 8,700 jobs.
