Amal Rajhi is the manager and CEO of Amal Group, a metal-manufacturing company that produces industrial and food-grade stainless steel production equipment for clients working in the agribusiness, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. Founded in 2000, the 100% Tunisian-owned company is based in the industrial zone of Mghira in Zaghouan governorate, which is 60 kilometers south of Tunis and is the site of an ancient aqueduct that once served as the source of fresh water for Carthage.

At 26, Mrs. Rajhi holds a degree in industrial engineering from ENI Carthage. Her deep understanding of business management and manufacturing comes from her upbringing around Amal Group, the family business established by her father in 2000. She spent a significant amount of her free time as a child in the factory, learning the ins and outs of the activity. Right before completing her studies, Mrs. Rajhi officially joined the business and, after three years of experience, she became a manager in June 2021. Under her leadership, the company has introduced new technology and production techniques. Her vision is for Amal Group to capture 20% of the local Tunisian market and grow internationally.

As part of Mrs. Rajhi's growth strategy, the company is actively pursuing expansion into international markets. Negotiations are underway to secure pre-orders from prospective customers in Libya and Algeria. Anticipating a surge in demand from these international clients, the company invested 150,000 TND to introduce a supplementary welding production line. This new addition is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2023, accompanied by the recruitment of additional operators to increase production capacity.

To secure deals with international customers, Amal Group must implement quality and environmental-management standards. These standards will help enhance the company's operations, enabling it to adapt to changes, increase production, and address product issues, all while maintaining current local demand. In addition to large-scale industrial equipment, Amal Group is also interested in producing equipment for smaller-scale producers working in distillation, essential oil extraction, and cheese-making. To increase production, Amal Group must also train new employees in critical welding techniques. Finding employees with these technical skills is rare in the underserved northwest region.

JOBS is helping the company implement ISO 9001 standards and a specific training program in stainless-steel welding to help support the company’s growth plans. This support will enable Amal Group to finalize its investment in the new production equipment and allocate resources to support the training program.

Thanks to JOBS’ support, Amal Group expects to more than double its sales and create 18 jobs by the end of March 2024.

“Our collaboration with JOBS has already proven fruitful, as we have been able to train our workforce, improve our organization and begin preparations for ISO 9001 certification. This has significantly impacted our day-to-day operations and sales and contributed to the creation of five new jobs thus far.”
